All yellow labs are born with pink noses. Around the 2nd week some of the pup's noses will start to turn dark. A full grown lab will most often have a black nose and amber to dark brown colored eyes. As Yellow labs age, sometimes their noses will turn lighter colored and sometimes seasonally, most notably during winter.

Yellow lab puppies pink noses. If your Yellow Lab has a pink nose, and has had it his whole life, then he is a Dudley Lab. They are a very rare type of Labrador Retriever with a slightly different genetic makeup that causes a lack of pigment in certain areas of their body. But, they are really not much different […] A yellow Labrador’s nose turning pink may be because of his body’s tyrosinase activity Many gene types influence the color of a Labrador Retriever’s coat and nose. Since they were first bred around the 1700s, generations of breeding could cause loss of pigmentation in different parts of their body – brought about by their recessive genes. All puppies are born with bright pink noses, which usually become darker in color over the first few weeks of their lives. A few yellow Labradors noses will remain the same pink color, some other noses will darken but only to a light brown shade, others will become completely black. A pink Labrador will have a pink nose throughout his life. But many Labrador noses turn pink as the years progress. This process is known as depression and is quite common and usually not a cause for concern. When the yellow lab is small, it will have a black nose and a black rim around its eyes. Dog breeds have pink nose.

The pigment on the nose of yellow Labs can vary. Some yellow Labs have slight black pigment around the muzzle and eyes. Some have pigmented nose that begins to fade as puppies (usually around 2 years of age) and will eventually become black again until they are 8 years old and above. Other people's definition of a Dudley Lab A yellow Labrador may start life with a black nose, but this is liable to turn pink as the dog grows older. Yellow Labradors known as "Dudley’s" can have pink noses, and the same colour around the rims of the eyes. Their colour can appear as light flesh on a light yellow to brown on a red or dark yellow. We just bought two adorable little (we THINK purebred) yellow lab puppies. We heard that yellow labs are supposed not supposed to be wrinkly around the muzzle at this age. They are 8-9 weeks old and we payed $500 for each so we were kind of expecting a purebred. They have brown noses and green eyes. All the purebreds I've seen have black noses. If a yellow Lab has two genes that encode for chocolate then the dog will have liver (chocolate) pigment also known as a "Dudley" and this can vary from very light flesh colored on a light yellow to a dark brown on a red or dark yellow. These different combinations can arise from various breedings depending on what color the parents are AND.

Labs With Pink Noses. Labrador Retrievers can have a pink nose and are oftentimes referred to as “Dudley” Labradors. Yellow Labs are usually born with pink noses that turn dark when they grow older but Dudley Labs stay that way. These Yellow Labs are pretty special and only occur out of specific mating combinations. If and only if, both parents carry a little e gene, then some of the puppies may be yellow.. Remember that your puppy needs two little e genes (one from each parent) in order to be yellow.. If only one of two black dogs carries the little e gene, all their puppies will be black. But half will carry the yellow gene, and this is how the color can skip a generation @First timer Having read around quite a bit my understanding is that a TRUE 'Dudley' is a yellow dog with pink nose, muzzle, eyes and paws and they are disqualified from the show ring. A yellow dog with brown nose etc. can be shown but the colouration is regarded as a fault, and Daisy if you wanted could be shown as it sounds as if she is a yellow girl with black nose, muzzle etc, and is. A Dudley Lab is a Labrador retriever that lacks pigmentation on the eyes, eye rims, muzzle, and nose. Because some people believe that any Labradors with reduced nose pigmentation are also Dudley Labradors. There are three types of noses that a yellow Lab can have. Black, brown or pink.

Idiopathic is a condition that can make a dog's nose, lips and eyelids lose pigment. The cause is unknown. Skin cancer; VKH-like syndrome or Uveodermatological syndrome (UDS) is an autoimmune disease where one's own defense against infection, the T-cells, attack the melanin-forming cells (melanocytes) in the body. Melanin is what gives color, or pigment, to the hair, skin and parts of the eyes. All puppies are born with bright pink noses, which usually become darker in color over the first few weeks of their lives. A few yellow Labradors noses will remain the same pink color, some other noses will darken but only to a light brown shade, others will become completely black. If you're planning on getting a Yellow Lab to show it in conformation (dog shows), then you should not get a puppy that has a pink nose - it's a disqualification at shows. However, that applies only to true "pink" noses. Some Lab noses are a brownish color called "liver", and some Labs' noses also tend to fade toward liver as they get older. All puppies are born with bright pink noses, which usually become darker in color over the first few weeks of their lives. A few yellow Labradors noses will remain the same pink color, some other noses will darken but only to a light brown shade, others will become completely black.
