I do see where you are coming from - one major reason why I love the dobermann breed is its looks - it is so damn gorgeous, athletic, strong, tall, noble, just simply beautiful, and yes a lot of it has to do with its ears. but I think sasa the OP now has a more informed opinion when some of us here give him the + and -s of cropped ears.

Why do doberman puppies have wrapped ears. I'm getting a doberman pinscher soon, and we're getting his ears cropped. How long do you have to keep the tape and splints on for after the surgery? (I've seen pictures with puppies and their ears are taped after surgery) PLEASE DONT go on telling me how it is cruel and inhumane to do this to your dog. He will be on anesthetics and i'm not doing it to make him seem cooler or as an accessory. Why is it that so many Doberman owners choose to have their dog’s ears cropped? Let’s find out. The Doberman Pinscher. Developed primarily as a guard dog, the sleek and powerful Doberman Pinscher is widely considered to be one of the world’s finest protection dogs.. This medium to large breed stands from 24 to 28 inches and weighs from 60 to 100 pounds. Doberman Pinschers are one of the more than fifty breeds of dogs recognized by the American Kennel Club that have traditionally had their tails docked. Like other dogs with working histories, the tails were often docked to help prevent the tails from experiencing injuries on the job. Hi my name is travis and i have a 14week old female doberman. i just got her ears cropped and when i went to go pick her up the vet had folded her ears back to her head and did not use a cone or a cup to stand them up. i use to raise boxers and had a couple of their ears done and the vet then used a cone to prop the ears up. i was wondering if.

Doberman ears aren't long or heavy, so infections are less of a problem; however, cropped ears do generally stay cleaner than uncropped ears do. Additionally, a cropped ear is less likely to develop a hematoma (a blood-filled pocket on the ear leather), which typically requires surgery to repair. The ears are cropped in a shapely manner when the Doberman is a youngster, usually between 7 to 12 weeks. The ear must belong enough to crop, and the puppy should not be so old that the surgery becomes more difficult for the ears to successfully stand. The Veterinarian puts the puppy under anesthesia and then proceeds to remove the excess ear on. Cropping -- cutting off the floppy part of a dog’s ear -- is usually performed on anesthetized dogs between 6 and 12 weeks old. The ears are then taped to a hard surface for several weeks while they heal so they stay upright. Why Some Think It’s a Bad Idea. Tail docking is banned in many parts of the world, including Australia and the U.K. Dobermans have beautiful tails just like other dogs, but a few Western countries still allow an old custom of cutting the tails of the dogs when they are puppies, called docking (because "amputation" didn't have the cute ring to it). Instead, have your vet show you how to do a temporary wrap and fix to hold the dog over until you can get into the vet. Ear wrapping at home can be tricky, and you have to ensure you are not wrapping too tightly. This could cut off circulation and cause some serious damage to your dog's ears. Hello, I got my 11 week old puppy's ears cropped today. He came home with a cone of shame and his ears wrapped flat to his head. The vet told me to remove the bandage tomorrow and to leave his ears alone for 2 weeks (until the stitches dissolve) and then begin posting them. In generations past people believed that erect ears were key to improved hearing, so cropping a Doberman's naturally floppy ears was a common practice. But Dobermans have excellent hearing with or without ear cropping. You'll want to take special care of your Doberman pinscher's ears whether they're.

As puppy grows, so do his ears – they develop cartilage. If you let the ears hang down (or fold on the top of his head) as cartilage develops – the ears will grow keeping this shape. At the early weeks of posting (if you keep the ears down or folded) you also risk of incorrect blood circulation that could cause serious complications. start with regular size tampons. once you do this tape the 2 pieces of tube together and make another one. now take an athletic tape and start wrapping at one end all the way around the tube then reverse the wrap so the sticky side is on the outside. wrap the entire tube down to the bottom. tear off about 2) 6-inch strips of tape (2" tape) and 2(strips about 1/4 inch wide and about 2 inches long. A dog’s ears are arguably their most adorable feature. You just can’t top the cuteness of a dog’s ears perking up when they hear your footsteps or see a treat coming their way. Great Dane ear cropping is one way to ensure just the right look. Ears come in many different shapes and sizes, much like dog breeds themselves. I was wondering the same thing. I have posted Buddy's ears up only twice. The first time was 4 days and again for 4 more days. They get dirty and loosen up,so I have to re-do them more often. Also, because I am worried about doing the tape too tight. Anyway, After the first time, they stood nicely for a whole day.
